Weather Alert: Due to dense fog in North India, life is being badly affected. Flight services are also being affected due to fog. Trains coming to the national capital Delhi from different states of the country are getting delayed by several hours. The temperature remains between five to eight degrees. Kankani and melting have increased. On Thursday also there were reports of low visibility due to dense fog. The Meteorological Department said that around 5.30 am on Thursday, many areas of Punjab, Haryana, West Rajasthan, Bihar and Noida were seen wrapped in dense fog.

Weather Alert: In which areas life was affected due to dense fog?

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog was also seen in different parts of Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Assam. Light fog was seen in isolated parts of eastern Rajasthan, eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Madhya Pradesh. Apart from North India, fog was also seen in the upper Himalayas, Sikkim and West Bengal. However, moderate fog in these areas did not cause much visibility problems.

Meteorological Department’s response on the possibility of relief

When will we get relief from the bone-chilling cold? When will there be good sunshine after the fog clears? On these questions, the Meteorological Department (IMD) said, between January 18 (Thursday) and January 20, there is a possibility of very dense fog in many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh for a few hours late night and morning. Minimum temperatures will rise by about 2 degrees Celsius over northwest India in the next 24 hours. However, the increase in temperature will not have much impact on the melting due to fog and cold.Community-verified icon
